A prominent Feminist Advocate and Youth Activist in Ghana is celebrating the historic re-appointment of Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman as the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2024 elections.

In a press release dated March 7, 2024, the advocate expressed immense joy and extended heartfelt congratulations to Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman.

The release highlighted the significance of this decision as a pivotal moment in breaking barriers for women in leadership roles in Ghana.

The statement read, “Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang’s re-appointment is not just a personal victory but a monumental stride towards shattering the glass ceiling for women in leadership across Ghana and beyond.”

Recognising Prof Opoku Agyeman’s distinguished record in public service and academia, the advocate emphasised her unwavering commitment to social justice and gender equality. The release lauded her leadership qualities, integrity, and profound understanding of the issues facing Ghanaians, making her an inspirational figure for young women aspiring to leadership roles.

The advocate underscored the importance of having a woman in such a high office, stating that it symbolises progress towards gender equality in politics.

“Women leaders,” she noted, “bring valuable perspectives and drive positive change, contributing significantly to a nation’s development, particularly in areas like social welfare, education, health, and community.”

Drawing inspiration from global women leaders such as Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Jacinda Ardern, and Angela Merkel, the release highlighted their outstanding contributions on a global scale.

It emphasised their role in guiding their countries through challenges and making significant advancements, showcasing the indispensable contribution of women in governance and development.

“As Ghana approaches another electoral cycle, the reappointment of Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang sends a powerful message about the role of women in shaping our nation’s future,” the release stated.

Also, it called on Ghanaians, especially young women, to engage in the political process, aspire to leadership roles, and actively contribute to the country’s destiny.

The Feminist Advocate and Youth Activist in Ghana concluded by urging unity and support for more women in leadership positions, envisioning a fair, inclusive, and prosperous Ghana.
