Her announcement was received with enthusiasm from some party supporters who praised her dedication to public service.

In a statement dated March 7, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey described Professor Opoku-Agyemang as “a distinguished academic and leader renowned for her dedication to education and public service.”

The NDC scribe said Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s nomination underscores the party’s commitment to inclusiveness, diversity and empowering women for leadership.

With “extensive qualifications and experience”, the former educator brings “a wealth of knowledge and expertise” that forms a “formidable team” with Mahama.

The General Secretary stated that the pairing “is poised to introduce a bold and progressive vision for the future of Ghana.”

Commenting on her selection, John Mahama expressed confidence in his running mate, noting that “Her integrity, dedication, and vision for a better Ghana make her the ideal candidate to join me in leading our party to victory in the upcoming elections.”
