Former president and flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has visited Bawku in the Upper East region as part of his Building Ghana Tour.
During his visit, Mr Mahama called on the paramount chief of the Kusaug traditional area, Bawku Naba, Zug-raan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II.
The NDC leader urged the Bawku Naba and the community to support the NDC in the December 2024 election. He expressed disappointment over the state of various projects initiated during his administration that the current administration has neglected. He mentioned the Garu Hospital and the Bawku to Bolgatanga road.
Mahama promised that if elected, the NDC would complete the abandoned projects and begin new ones, including constructing a state-of-the-art referral hospital in Bawku.
Mr Mahama also addressed Bawku’s security and safety issues, asserting that there is no chieftaincy conflict because there is only one known king, Asigri Abugrago Azoka II.
The former president asserted that all must work for peace to return to Bawku, urging the people to collaborate with the security agencies and their personnel to bring peace.
He reassured the chiefs and people that restoring peace to Bawku would be his priority, adding that his administration would work towards fostering lasting peace.
