The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has emphasised its challenge in addressing the rampant corruption within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the NDC, the party is inundated with reports of corruption on a daily basis from the NPP government.
Speaking as a panelist on The Citizen Show hosted by Kwabena Bobie Ansah on Accra 100.5 FM on Monday, February 19, 2024, the Deputy Women’s Organiser of the NDC, Abigail Elorm Mensah, clarified the party’s stance on not pushing further on some of the corruption issues.
She highlighted the staggering levels of corruption within the NPP is making it difficult for the NDC to demand full accountability on many of said issues.
Ms Mensah pointed out that under the watch of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia, corruption has become a daily affair.
She emphasised that corruption has flourished under the current government, with new scandals emerging regularly.
Ms Mensah cited examples such as the Agyapa Deal, GRA -SML deal, and allegations of nepotism involving the Vice President’ s immediate family, highlighting the continuous stream of corruption-related issues plaguing the government.
Despite these challenges, Ms Mensah commended the NDC Minority for their efforts in fighting corruption under President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
