The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has indicated that it expects to declare the presidential election results within three days after December 7, 2024, if everything goes according to plan.
This was contained in the Commission’s election calendar, as sighted by 3news.
“There was no law requiring the EC to declare the results within a specified period, the EC intended to ensure that it would be able to declare the presidential results within a maximum of three days,” a source told the Daily Graphic.
Furthermore, the election management body said it will open nominations for both presidential and parliamentary candidates for this year’s election from September 9 to September 19.
Per the schedule, the Commission intends to submit provisional voters’ register to the various political parties between July 9 and July 18, 2024.
Also, balloting for positions on the presidential ballot paper is slated for September 23, 2024.
According to the EC, special voting for some selected professionals will take place on December 2, while the main election will happen on December 7.
