The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has indicated that the decision by flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to maintain Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as his Running Mate speaks volumes for the party.
In a release from the party, it said the decision underscores the party’s commitment to empower women in leadership roles.
“Her nomination underscores the NDC’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and the empowerment of women in leadership roles. Possessing extensive qualifications and experience, the NDC’s Professor Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to presidential ticket,” parts of the release from the opposition party said.
Having served as Minister for Education and as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, she has emerged as a trailblazer for women in leadership across Ghana.
This is her second time partnering with John Dramani Mahama to lead the NDC into a general election.
NDC noted that it is excited to present such a formidable team again to lead the party’s ticket for the upcoming general election.
“With John Mahama and Professor Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang at the forefront, the NDC is poised to introduce a bold and progressive vision for the future of Ghana,” the party said in its release signed by General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
