The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Setor Dumelo, has outlined his vision emphasizing infrastructure development and agricultural advancement in Ayawaso West Wuogon.

Dumelo expressed his commitment to addressing the pressing needs of university students in the constituency by advocating for the construction of affordable hostel facilities.

He remarked, “if I become an MP, I will lobby for the construction of affordable hostel facilities for most of these university students.”

Recognizing the challenges faced by students, he stressed the importance of creating a conducive environment for learning.

Highlighting his primary focus on security, Dumelo emphasized the significance of illuminating the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, which he described as predominantly dark.

“My biggest vision is security. But that is a subset of lighting up Ayawaso West because most of the places are dark. And so security, lighting Ayawaso and generally having a conducive environment for business to thrive,” said Dumelo an interview with Johnnie Hughes on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show on Friday, April 19.

Dumelo also underscored the need to revitalize the agricultural sector, emphasizing the importance of adding value to agricultural produce.

He echoed President Mahama’s commitment to investing more in agribusiness.

Expressing disappointment with the current administration’s failure to fulfill promises made to the creative arts sector, Dumelo criticized the lack of progress in establishing theaters across the country.

“When I listened to them in 2016 talking about they are going to create theaters… 8 years down the line nothing has happened,” he lamented.

He called for tangible actions to support the creative industry, condemning the lack of substantive initiatives.

Regarding the concept of a 24-hour economy, Dumelo emphasized the role of the private sector in driving economic growth. He said the policy requires collaboration between government and businesses to enhance productivity and efficiency.

As the December elections draw near, Dumelo’s pledges underscore his commitment to addressing the diverse needs of Ayawaso West Wuogon constituents, focusing on infrastructure development, agricultural advancement, and support for the creative arts sector.
