The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reacted to the allegations made by the third accused person in the ongoing ambulance purchase trial.
The party says it is deeply scandalous that one of the accused persons has levelled a serious allegation against the Attorney-General concerning the matter.
The third accused person, Richard Jakpa, alleged in an open court on Thursday, May 23, 2024, that Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame has had several meetings with him at odd hours and telephone conversations impressing on him to skew his testimony to implicate the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
The NDC noted that the allegation has confirmed long-held suspicions of the devious modus operandi of Godfred Dame and the government he represents.
To the party, it has also affirmed how desperate the Nana Addo-led administration is to manipulate judicial processes to unjustly victimise political opponents for cheap political goal-scoring.
“It also confirms the lack of integrity of the dishonourable Attorney-General and the extent to which he goes to pervert the course of justice,” the party said in a statement.
The party served notice that it would organise a press conference and put out the evidence to expose the Attorney-General and the government.
“The NDC wishes to serve notice that early next week, the party shall hold a full-blown press conference and put out incontrovertible evidence on this matter that will shock the nation. We will stop at nothing in pursuing this matter to its logical conclusion and ensuring that justice is done.”
