Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, has dismissed the necessity of a debate between the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, and the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Otokunor expressed disappointment at the prospect of such a debate, asserting that the Vice President, who has been in power for eight years, should focus on implementing necessary actions rather than debating.
In his comments to the media, Dr. Otokunor emphasized that Ghanaians are already aware of Dr. Bawumia’s performance both in opposition and in power, making a debate redundant.
He suggested that if a debate is to occur before the general elections, NDC communicators in various constituencies would be more appropriate participants than John Mahama.
The next general elections in Ghana are scheduled for December 7, 2024, where both presidential and parliamentary candidates will be elected.
