Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Mr. Isaac Adongo, has criticised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over his promise to make smartphones accessible and cheap for the youth if he wins the presidency.
The MP, who is also the ranking member on the Finance Committee of Parliament, said the promise made by the Vice President shows he lacks foresight.
He suggested this could not resolve the rate of unemployment.
He noted that several young people have difficulty finding the next meal, and yet the presidential candidate of the NPP wants to give them mobile phones so they will pay GHc2 every month.
“You move unemployment from 8% to 14%, and all you can tell the unemployed youth who are looking up to you to tell them…how you they will get the next meal…is that you’ll give them mobile phones so that every month they will pay GH¢1, GH¢2.
“How does that create a solution to the unemployment situation? This is a visionless government that they intentionally created this unemployment for our youth so they could prey on them for election purposes,” he stated.
