The campaign of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama will move to the North East Region on Tuesday after four days in the Upper East Region.

Mr Mahama will move to two areas in the North East Region on Tuesday morning and then move back to the Upper East Region to round up activities before moving back to the North East on Wednesday.

Eight events have been scheduled across four constituencies in the two regions on Tuesday.

The day starts with a community engagement at Yizesi Town park in the North East Region.

Next, the NDC flag bearer will head to Yagaba NDC office for a campaign rally before returning to the Upper East Region to engage with stakeholders at the Fumbisi Pentecost Church in the Builsa South constituency.

He is then expected to proceed to Fumbisi Rawlings park for another community engagement.

Mr Mahama will pay a courtesy call on Sandema Naab in Builsa North and a mini durbar at the Sandema durbar ground.

In Bolga Central, Mr Mahama will attend a durbar at the GNAT hall, before he ends the day with a mini durbar at the Ramsey Sports Stadium in Bolga.

Monday tour

In the Upper East Region on Monday, Mr Mahama engaged with chiefs, people, and religious leaders.

The day began with a community engagement at the East Zone Mining Site in Talensi, where the former President listened to the concerns of residents and miners.

Mr Mahama told them that the NDC government will introduce a co-operative mining policy in mining communities.

He assured the crowd that the proposed initiative was a bold step to allow the youth venture into mining, thereby creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in such areas.

“When we come to power we will put the youth interested in mining to engage in community mining to improve their standard of living,” Mr Mahama said.

The NDC flagbearer then proceeded to Tongo, also in the Talensi constituency for another community engagement. The Talensi constituency is presently held by the NDC Member of Parliament, BT Baba who is not contesting for another term in the upcoming election. In his place, the NDC has put forward, Daniel Mahama for the December contest.

Bongo

In the Bongo constituency, Mr Mahama was received at the Chief’s Palace for a durbar with chiefs and people. He emphasised the need for change and his commitment to addressing the region’s developmental challenges.

At Namoo Primary School Park in the Bongo constituency, Mr Mahama engaged with community members at a mini-rally that was attended by an enthusiastic crowd.

Also in the Bongo constituency, the NDC MP, Edward Bawa is not contesting the December election and Charles Bawaduah will seek to take his place in the polls.

Constituents who spoke to the Daily Graphic in separate interviews expressed optimism that the NDC would retain the seat.

Chiana Paga

The campaign team proceeded to the Chiana Paga constituency where in Chiana Town, Mr Mahama interacted with women’s groups, highlighting his support for women’s empowerment.

He explained the vision behind the proposed establishment of the Women’s Development Bank, was to provide patient capital to women led businesses to improve their lives and create wealth for the nation.

He said, “women were in the majority in the country and if we are successful in prioritizing their needs then the nation will reap great benefits.”

The NDC would be represented by Nikyema Billa Alamzy in the constituency in the December election. Mr Alamzy is also contesting the seat for the first time.

Navrongo

In Navrongo, Mr Mahama met with religious and traditional leaders, seeking their blessings and endorsement. He later addressed a mini community durbar at CSO Park, reiterating his vision for a better Ghana.
