The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, says he will prioritise patriotism when appointing individuals to serve under the next NDC government if the party wins the upcoming elections.
He emphasised that those who wish to serve in the next administration must be individuals who put the love of Ghana first, in addition to having the necessary qualifications for the job.
Speaking at the 10th Public Lecture at KNUST in Kumasi on Saturday to commemorate the anniversary of the death of the late Dr Paul Victor Obeng, Mr Mahama described him as someone who served Ghana with a sense of patriotism.
The former President highlighted that the life of P.V. Obeng is worth emulating and that individuals willing to serve under his next administration should possess such patriotic qualities.
“It is our turn to speak out, to speak truth to power and if power refuses to act it will be our turn to act out what we would have spoken… PV Obeng loved Ghana. He was a phenomenon. He was a political colossus. His love for Ghana was one of his greatest attributes and was one of the reasons that motivated me to appoint him to serve in my government in the presidency.”
“I look forward to appointing many such people like PV was who loved Ghana besides whatever professional or other qualifications they might possess in my next government from January 7th, 2025,” he stated.
