The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called out the Electoral Commission for failing to provide political parties with copies of the provisional voter’s register ahead of the Commission’s voter exhibition exercise.
Speaking at a campaign event in Sogakope on Friday, Mr Mahama said the Commission asked the parties to submit their external drives for the register in July but has since failed to make it available.
As of the close of the day on Friday, political parties were yet to receive the provisional voters register, and the Commission has failed to provide reasons for the delay.
“I want to draw the attention of the Electoral Commission (EC), In July they asked all political parties to bring their hard drives so they can give us a copy of the provisional voter’s register. The exhibition of the register starts in 4 days, we should have received those provisional registers by now so that we can help our members check if their names are there.”
“I’m calling on the EC to make sure that we get the hard drives with the provisional register today [Friday, August 16], so that we can send them to our constituencies and let our executives start helping the people check and make sure their names are there. “
