The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned Ghanaians against being swayed by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto, urging citizens to scrutinize its promises critically.

During the launch of the NPP’s policy document on Sunday, the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, assured Ghanaians of bold and innovative solutions to tackle the nation’s pressing challenges.

He highlighted several key initiatives already implemented by his administration and introduced new policies aimed at bringing relief to the Ghanaian people.

However, the NDC has criticized the NPP’s manifesto, dismissing it as lacking originality and clarity.

The party’s Deputy National Organiser, Elikem Kotoko, described the proposals as “bold confusion,” arguing that the NPP’s promises are merely rehashed ideas without concrete analysis.

Kotoko specifically questioned the feasibility of the NPP’s pledge to reduce duties in Ghana to levels cheaper than those in Togo, challenging the practicality of such a promise without thorough analysis.

He emphasized that the NDC is focused on offering coherent solutions rather than empty promises and urged Ghanaians to carefully evaluate the NPP’s manifesto before accepting its assurances.

“There’s nothing new from what they did if you listened to them carefully. They just revisited a few of the promises they made to Ghanaians, they have built an Airport for you in Cape Coast, and we are doing this and that.

“Duties in Ghana should be cheaper than in Togo, you’ve not told us the analysis you’ve done to say so, Togo has a free port and you’re not the same as them.”

“There’s no proper cogent thing said. You can’t say you’ll make duty cheaper in Ghana compared to Togo and that’s it, what exactly, we need to know what cogent solutions they really have. Instead of bold solutions, it turned out to be bold confusion.”
