Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December 7 elections, has expressed her admiration for the understanding shown by market women and shoppers regarding the NDC’s policy on the Women’s Development Bank.
The proposed Women’s Development Bank, a key NDC initiative, is designed to support women entrepreneurs, promote financial independence among women, and enhance their ability to support their families.
During her campaign tour of the Greater Accra region on Monday, August 19, 2024, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang visited several markets, including Mallam, Odorkor, Achimota, and Dome, within the Ablekuma North, Okaikoi North, and Dome-Kwabenya constituencies.
She noted that she was deeply impressed by the market women’s awareness and understanding of the NDC’s policy, as well as their strong calls for change.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted the frustrations expressed by the market women regarding the greed, arrogance, and state capture they have witnessed over the past seven and a half years.
She remarked on her pride in being part of a party that values every individual, regardless of ethnicity, age, religion, education, or gender, noting that all three parliamentary candidates in these constituencies are women.
She reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to equality and inclusivity, stating that the party aims to represent all citizens as they work towards building a better Ghana together.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang will continue her campaign tour today, Tuesday, August 20, 2024, with visits to the Tema Central, Tema East, and Tema West constituencies.
