A spokesperson on the economy for former President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign, Mona Quartey, has asked Ghanaians to trust in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its president to deliver on its promises.
He said Mr. Mahama is tried, tested, credible, and a man of integrity whose track record is unquestionable.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, she assured Ghanaians that a new NDC will, above and beyond its major policies, deal ruthlessly with corruption.
The former deputy minister said the NDC will go the extra mile to recover all loot.
She explained that just as Nigeria used that approach, a new NDC government will recover all looted assets and resources and will not allow any political figure or exposed person to go away with the loot they got under the Nana Addo-led administration.
‘’This will no longer be entertained. That is what we will be doing to ensure foreign direct investments come into this country to add productivity. Just to add, we will not forget the less fortunate in our society. The poor and vulnerable would be targeted with government-assisted programs. We will initiate policies that will transform their lives. These initiatives would not be done in a wholesale manner.’’
In terms of Ghana’s debt management, the NDC left the sinking fund, which is a debt service reserve fund to repay our future debts, but all that was squandered by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), she alleged.
She told host Kwabena Agyapong that the NDC remains prepared to be prudent in resetting the economy because, over the past eight years, we have witnessed the destruction of the economy by the NPP.
The NDC, she argued, restored sensibility to the macro- and micro-economies of the country under the previous Mahama administratio.and these same experts who helped in achieving that were still around to assist the candidate in achieving that if elected.
