Mr Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has lauded the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its 2024 manifesto, ahead of the December 7 election.
He highlighted that, while the manifesto addresses numerous sectors and echoes policies proposed by other presidential candidates, it stands out for being clear, relatable, humane, and universal.
Mr Cudjoe emphasized that this distinct approach sets the NDC’s manifesto apart from those of other candidates.
“Politicians are interesting, and I appreciate that they are all focusing on the big issues—jobs, private sector, and education, which are very important.
Mahama, Bawumia, Alan, Cheddar, they’re all talking about jobs and the economy, and also about transforming the private sector, which is a good thing,” he said.
However, he pointed out that the NDC’s manifesto, launched on August 24 under the theme ‘Change To Reset Ghana,’ goes further by presenting a comprehensive plan to reset the economy, alleviate economic hardships, promote good governance, and address gender equality and period poverty.
During an interview on Accra-based Adom FM’s Mr Cudjoe noted that one of the standout commitments in the manifesto is John Mahama’s pledge to provide free sanitary towels and allocate 30% of public office positions to qualified women.
He described this focus on addressing the needs of marginalized and neglected groups as central to the manifesto’s emphasis on good governance.
Mr Cudjoe concluded by stating that the NDC’s focus on the people, especially those who have been overlooked, underscores the importance of inclusive and compassionate governance.
