Former President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, also known as Lord Boam, as the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC’s) official parliamentary candidate for the Pru East Constituency in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Speaking during a visit to the Pru Constituency as part of his tour of the Bono East Region, Mr. Mahama addressed reports suggesting that some individuals were encouraging voters to support him as president while also backing an independent Parliamentary Candidate.
He dismissed these claims, stating, “The only Parliamentary Candidate I know, and the NDC knows, is Mr. Boam.”
The former president called on the electorate to disregard what he described as “gimmicks” by the independent candidate and reiterated his full support for Mr. Boam.
“An elephant walks with her children following, so I also walk with Mr. Boam following me,” he added, emphasizing the party’s unity and commitment to its chosen candidate.
Mr Mahama urged voters to ignore anyone claiming to have his endorsement as an independent candidate, making it clear that his blessings have been given solely to Mr. Boam as the NDC’s candidate for Pru East.
