The Director of Elections and IT of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has raised concerns about the silence of other institutions and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the anomalies in the voter register.
Ahead of a scheduled meeting that the NDC will be having with the Electoral Commission today Friday, September 6, Dr Omane Boamah said that the NDC will not tolerate “the unfolding day light advance robbery/rigging of Election 2024 to materialise.”
He further stated that the refusal of the Commission to grant the party a request to broadcast the meeting on the voters register goes against transparency.
Dr Omane states that transparency is cardinal to the attainment of free, fair, and peaceful elections. The EC, he said, can not escape public scrutiny and forensic audit of the voter register!
The NDC had requested a live meeting with the commission to address concerns regarding the electoral roll for the 2024 general elections.
But the Commission said it stands in readiness to hear from the NDC the discrepancies that have been identified with the Provisional Voters Register.
The EC in its response to the main opposition party said “As you already know, the essence of the Voters Exhibition Exercise is to correct discrepancies in the Register. Such discrepancies include missing names, misplaced voters, and duplicate images among others.
“The identification of discrepancies by your party is therefore not a new phenomenon. The Commission welcomes it in the hope that it will help ensure a Credible Register ahead of the 2024 General Election as envisaged by the Exhibition Exercise.”
But Dr Omane Boamah in a statement on his Facebook page said that “This being the case, at today’s meeting at the Corporate office of the EC near the National Cathedral, we shall also serve as the broadcast outlets in the meeting and after the meeting.”

The Electoral Commission has refused to grant NDC’s request for live broadcast of our meeting with them today @ 2pm.
We disagree with the EC and I have communicated same to them.
This deliberate refusal flies in the face of Transparency: Transparency is cardinal to the attainment of Free, Fair and Peaceful elections.
The EC can not escape public scrutiny and forensic audit of the voters register!
Meanwhile, we’ve all observed the LOUD SILENCE of the ruling NPP notwithstanding all these anomalies.
It cannot be lost on us that the NPP stands to benefit illegally from the overt and covert manipulation of the register and the electoral process.
Additionally, the palpable purchased silence from other previously loud-mouthed personalities and institutions that are supposed to call the EC to order is telling!
We are serving notice that the NDC will not tolerate the unfolding day light advance robbery/rigging of Election 2024 to materialise.
This being the case, at today’s meeting at the Corporate office of the EC near the National Cathedral, we shall also serve as the broadcast outlets in the meeting and after the meeting.
We shall not relent!
We shall not falter!!
We shall not rest!!!
