National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said the party hopes that the electoral commission would listen to the concerns they raised against the process for the elections and come to a mutual conclusion.
He said this after filing the presidential forms on behalf of flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.
Mr Asiedu Nketia was accompanied by the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Kwetey, the Director of IT and Elections of the NDC, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and other officials of the NDC.
Following the filing the forms, Mr Asiedu Nketia expressed hope that the commission would listen to the concerns raised by the NDC against the process for the elections and come to a mutual conclusion.
“We hope the commission will listen and listen to us very well,” he said.
Chair of the Electoral Commission Jean Adukwei Mensa has assured that the process for the conduct of the general elections will be peaceful, transparent, and fair.
The Electoral Commission had formed a team of experts to assess the presidential nomination forms presented by the aspirants to ascertain whether they met standards.
Chair of the Commission, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa stated that the aspirants have been given five days to file their forms starting today Monday, September 9.
The five-day period for filing is a deviation from the previous status quo when the aspirants were given two days to do so.
This is to enable them to correct whatever errors that may be detected on their forms, Madam Mensa said.
