The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini says his target is to secure approximately 80 percent of the votes cast in Tamale North for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama in the December 2024 election.
Speaking after filing his nomination for the Tamale North parliamentary election on Thursday [September 12], Alhassan Suhuyini said the NDC has consistently garnered between 60 to 65 percent of the votes in previous elections but was confident that this time around, support for Mahama would surge.
He said the elections would be relatively easy for the NDC, especially in northern Ghana, where both the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and NDC flag bearers hail from.
Despite this, Suhuyini expressed confidence that Mahama would be the clear choice for voters.
Highlighting Mahama’s previous contributions to the development of northern Ghana, Suhuyini credited him with improvements in healthcare, infrastructure, and market facilities, which he believes have made a lasting impact on the region.
“We know who, as president and as vice president, ensured that pilgrimage became easier. We know who ensured that our markets in this part of the country got attention. We know who ensured that our hospitals promoting our well-being were given a big boost,” Suhuyini continued.
