Adel Umar Ibrahim, Director of Operations of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Greater Accra youth Wing has threatened that the elections will not go on if a single name is missing on the voters’ register on December 7.
Speaking on Joy Prime’s morning show, Adel Umar stated that the representatives of the NDC will be at each voting centre with a vigilant eye and make sure everyone who comes to the polling station cast their votes.
“Whether you like it or not, the elections will take place, we are going down at the polling station, we are going to police it. We’ll make sure every single person will vote. On the 7th of December, everybody will cast their vote. If anyone comes to the polling station and doesn’t find his or her name in the register, the elections will not go on”. He threatened
He lamented how about three thousand, five hundred names were removed from the voters’ register and how the Electoral Commission claimed some names got corrupted by mistake when data was being transferred to the system.
“3,500 names have been deleted from the voters’ register. When EC was petitioned, the only answer they gave was that when they were transferring data to the system, some of the files got corrupted and deleted. But they claim they have resolved it now.
How will we know it has been resolve? By doing another exhibition to know if it has truly been resolved. Imagine 3,500 people get to the polling station and their names are not found in the register on the day of elections, that will be chaos”. He envisaged.
