The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region has raised serious concerns about alleged bias and intimidation by the Winneba Divisional Commander ACP Jeffrey Darko.

The party claims that ACP Darko’s actions are undermining the peace and fairness of the electoral process in the Effutu constituency.

In a statement issued and signed by Gabriella Tetteh, the Central Regional Communications Officer, the NDC accused ACP Darko of selective justice and intimidation.

“His selective justice and intimidation of our members have reached a crescendo,” the NDC in the Central Region stated.

The NDC argued that ACP Darko has been favouring the interests of MP Afenyo Markins and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) over those of the NDC.

The party alleged that ACP Darko has failed to act on reports of vandalism targeting NDC billboards, while providing security for the billboards of MP Afenyo Markins.

“Just a fortnight ago, despite reports about the destruction of our party billboards, ACP Darko chose to provide security to MP Afenyo’s billboards and ignored the destruction of our own,” the statement claimed.

The NDC therefore called for intervention from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, demanding that the situation be addressed to ensure fair treatment and security for all parties.

“We wish to express our gross disaffection with the handling of the matter by ACP Jeffrey Darko and notify him, the Effutu Assembly, and the constituents about our concerns,” the statement said.

The party also criticised the current NPP administration for what they described as economic mismanagement, corruption, and manipulation of constitutional bodies.

The NDC urged voters to reject the NPP in the upcoming elections.

“The peace that existed before, during, and after the 2016 general elections must manifest itself as we head into December 7, 2024,” the statement added, expressing confidence in their ability to win the Effutu seat.
