The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama, has reacted to recent polls by Fitch and Global InfoAnalytics predicting that he’s leading the 2024 general elections.
Fitch Solutions, a UK-based rating agency, in its latest report, predicted that the NDC is poised to win the elections.
A final field poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics shows Mahama maintaining a commanding lead over his closest competitor, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mahama, while touring the North East Region on Wednesday, October 2, highlighted that recent polls from reputable organisations like Fitch Solutions and Global InfoAnalytics suggest a strong likelihood of the NDC securing victory in the upcoming elections.
However, he cautioned his supporters against complacency, emphasising the need for vigilance throughout the electoral process.
Mahama accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of orchestrating fake polls to create a false narrative of victory for their presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia
“All the credible opinion polls have predicted that NDC is going to win the elections, and because of that NPP and the government have started publishing fake opinion polls, that have no methodology, opinion polls where you cannot find the people who did the research.
“And so, ignore all those fake opinion polls, everything indicates and every credible institution- Economy Intelligence Unit, Fitch Solutions, Global InfoAnyalitics, every proper, credible opinion poll shows that NDC is going to win the elections.
“Of course, we must not be complacent, we must protect every single person’s vote. All of us are going to be polling agents.”
According to Global InfoAnalytics, Mahama is ahead with 51.1% of the votes, positioning him favourably against Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate.
Fitch also predicts a victory for Mahama, citing persistently high challenges for the ruling NPP. However, Bawumia’s campaign team has dismissed the Global InfoAnalytics poll finding.
