The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Effutu constituency, James Kofi Annan, has asked film producer Socrate Safo and Halifax Ansah-Addo, a journalist with the Despite Media Group, to stop misrepresenting facts about the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Effutu.

In a post on Facebook, Hon. Kofi Annan referred to the duo who are known supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as “rented journalists.”

Hon. Kofi Annan’s outburst follows Halifax Ansah-Addo and Socrate Safo’s inability to convey the facts of what transpired during an NDC demonstration in Winneba.

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the NDC staged a protest in the Effutu constituency to voice their disapproval of political abuses and election malpractices against the party.

However, the demonstration was marked by disorder after NPP supporters and NDC demonstrators clashed.

Taking to his Facebook page to report about the incident, Socrate Safo claimed that the NDC group had attacked him and Halifax with knives. In addition, he said that the party supporters had vandalized their car.

Meanwhile, Hon. James Kofi Annan has quickly disputed the allegations, stating that the NPP supporters had ambushed the NDC protest in order to sabotage the proceedings.

Additionally, he denied attempts made by Halifax Ansah-Addo to undermine the demonstration’s success.

Hon. Annan stated that the demonstration was successful, and that, the NPP would have to hire a crowd in order to mobilize the kind of numbers that showed up for the NDC on Wednesday.

He wrote, “Someone should tell Halifax Ansah-Addo, Socrate Safo, and their kind, that we are aware that they are part of the rented Journalists and political activists in the Effutu constituency, so we are not bothered about what they report about the NDC in Effutu.”

“Ask them to watch the attached video and compare it to their failed NPP walk, which was used to ambush the NDC demonstration. The NDC proved that without their rented crowds, the NPP is nothing in the Effutu constituency. They should by now know that the NPP can never win any credible elections in the Effutu constituency,” the post stated.

He added, “Afenyo-markin can never match James Kofi Annan in any elections in the Effutu constituency without the NPP’s massive importation of votes and votes-buying.”
