Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has noted that one of the things that sets his party apart from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is his party’s fidelity to integrity and sincerity.
Speaking at a campaign event in the Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency, the former president noted that the NDC, unlike the NPP, holds the principle of truth and accountability dear in its quest for power, as the party will not deceive Ghanaian electorates to gain their votes.
“They tell people what they want to hear because they want political power, and the extreme form of it that I have heard is that they say if there is political power, sell your mother and get political power. When you get the power, then you go and buy your mother back,” he stated.
But according to Mr. Mahama, that is not how the NDC wins power, as the party rather resorts to truth in its campaign.
“What if you get the power and you go and your mother is dead? You won’t get her back. So some of us are not that kind of politicians; we don’t tell people what they want to hear; we tell them the truth. If things are good, I will tell you that things are good. If things are not going so well, I will come back and tell you things are not going so well, but this is what I believe we should do, and that is the philosophy of the NDC,” he stated.
Mr. Mahama thus urged the people of Daboya-Mankarigu to trust the NDC with their votes come December 7 when Ghana goes to the polls.
