The general secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Kwetey has asked its supporters to keep calm after the Electoral Commission announced the disqualification of their Amenfi Central Parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan.

The General Secretary, in a statement issued via his social media pages, indicated that they will address the press on Thursday, October 17, and provide their supporters with their next line of action.

He assured them that the will of the people can never be subverted.

“The leadership of the NDC takes note of a statement from the Electoral Commission purporting to disqualify our Parliamentary Candidate in Amenfi Central.

We urge our rank and file, particularly the good people of Amenfi Central to await a press conference by the party tomorrow.

In the meantime, all should be assured that the will of the Ghanaian people shall not be subverted.”

Ghana’s Electoral Commission, through a statement, announced the decision to disqualify Joana Gyan.

The EC premised their decision on a court injunction against her candidature, which has since not been resolved.
