Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, the running mate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) popularly known as Roman Fada, has shed light on the surprising passing of Akua Donkor, the founder and leader of the GFP.

Akua Donkor reportedly appeared in good health until her sudden decline and eventual death on Monday, October 28.

According to Roman Fada, she passed away at Ridge Hospital in Accra following what has been described as a brief illness.

In an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Tuesday, October 29, Roman Fada shared the details of his recent interactions with Akua Donkor, whom he described with affection and respect.

Speaking to Umaru Sanda Amadu, Roman Fada explained that he last met with the party’s flagbearer just a few days earlier on Friday, October 26, where they discussed ongoing plans and preparations for their campaign.

Roman Fada recounted how the first signs of her illness appeared on Saturday evening, October 27, when he was informed around 6 pm that Akua Donkor was not feeling well and was transported to the Nsawam Government Hospital for immediate medical attention and discharged.

Later, she was rushed to Ridge Hospital in Accra on Monday, where she ultimately passed away despite the efforts to save her.

“I had a call around 10:30 pm that our dear mum was no more. I was with her on Friday discussing how to run our campaign and we spoke again on Saturday so around 6 pm, I had a call that Mum was not feeling well and was taking her to the Nsawam Government Hospital. She was rushed to the Ridge Hospital on Monday where she later died.

“She did not look like someone who was ill because we had been having interviews all over until the last day. The last time I saw her was on Friday and she was even planning to travel to Kumasi today.”

Roman Fada also revealed that the Ghana Freedom Party plans to issue an official statement in the coming days, providing further details and outlining the way forward for the party in the wake of its founder’s death.
