An aspiring National Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Seth Ofori-Ohene, has said he will bring to bear his expertise as a political communication specialist and a strategist to help the party recapture power in the 2024 general election.

He has, therefore, called on the party’s delegates to vote for him massively to enable him to serve in that capacity as the party prepares towards the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections on December 7.

Mr Ofori-Ohene, a former National Director of Communications of the NDC and member of the 2020 outreach and monitoring team of the party, said this in an interview with the Daily Graphic.

He said he would help to craft a party strategy that would ensure a resounding victory for the party in 2024 and beyond.

Capabilities

Mr Ofori-Ohene, who said he was also credited for playing key roles leading to the 2008 and 2012 Presidential Election victories of the NDC, said he would ensure that there was technology application in party’s work and politicking when given the opportunity to serve the party as a national vice-chairman.

He described himself as a results-oriented person and skilled to get the job done, more especially when the party was on a rescue mission to recapture power to revive the ailing economy and prosecute well-thought out human centred policies and programmes for the benefit of the citizenry.

As a political activist, strategist and technology advocate, Mr Ofori-Ohene said he would ensure youth participation in party work and governance as well as women empowerment in party administration and governance.

He said when given the mandate by the delegates to serve as a vice-chairman, he would champion the welfare of party members and their economic progress and for the large Ghanaian society.

” I will also help to enhance public engagement on good governance and sustainability,” the national vice-chairman hopeful stated.

Background

The NDC is due to hold its national delegates congress on December 17, 2022 to elect new national executives of the party to steer its affairs for the next four years.

Vetting and balloting of positions on the ballot paper for the national election have since been concluded with a total of 81 candidates cleared to contest in the elections.

Other contestants

A total of eight persons are vying for the position of the National Vice Chairman.

They are Sherif Abdul-Nasiru, Abanga Yakubu Alhassan, Dr Sheery Ayittey, Seth Ofori-Ohene, Awudu Sofo Azorka, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho, Alhaji Habibu Adramani and Evelyn Enyonam Mensah.

According to the constitution of the party, the first three candidates with the highest number of votes in the elections becomes the first, second and third vice-chairmen of the party.
