The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Constituency, Mahama Ayariga, has fervently urged voters to reject the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the forthcoming elections.

During the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign tour in the Upper East Region, Mr Ayariga highlighted pervasive corruption scandals and economic mismanagement under the current administration as critical reasons for his appeal.

He pointed out that one of the NPP’s main justifications for selecting Dr Bawumia as a running mate in 2016 was his supposed expertise in economics.

However, Ayariga criticised Dr Bawumia’s performance, citing the skyrocketing cedi-to-dollar exchange rate and the overall collapse of the economy during his tenure.

The former Information Minister further accused the NPP of not only failing to deliver on their economic promises but also being entangled in numerous corruption scandals.

He argued that these issues have worsened the suffering of the Ghanaian people, particularly the youth.

“Here we are today, the cedi to the US Dollar rate is skyrocketing, and the economy has collapsed under his watch. So, what again, will the Chief Liar do?.”

“A vote for them is a continued suffering to Ghanaian youth,” he warned, urging voters to consider the broader impact of their electoral choices,” he stated.
