Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, a Member of Parliament of the Ellembelle constituency in the Western Region, says the recklessness of President Akufo-Addo ”has moved beyond the abuse of power to state capture”.

He stated without mincing words that this government has demonstrated that they purposely came into office to amass wealth for themselves at the expense of the Ghanaian people.

Speaking with Dr. Ren on Rainbow Radio 92.4 FM in the United Kingdom, he stated that if anyone had told Ghanaians that we would have a government that would increase our debt stock from Ghc120 billion to over Ghv500 billion, they would not have believed.

He was responding to the question of whether he believes the president is abusing power, and in his response, he said, ”Abuse of power is an understatement. This is state capture. It looks as if there is an attempt by new people to capture all aspects of our state institutions.”

The MP told the host that one major thing you should do as a leader after you are elected is leave behind a legacy that will last, but that is not the case with this government.

He pointed out that Ghana should have been in the same league as Dubai, considering the loans they have contracted.

He lamented that, despite the government ballooning our public debt, it has nothing to show for it.

He said it was the expectation that we would have several hospitals and other legacy projects; however, this government has nothing to show for the seven years they have been in power.

The speaker expressed disappointment that the government has largely destroyed the legacies of others.
