The parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Afadjato South constituency, Frank Afriyie, has appealed to constituents to trust the party and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, to bring the much-needed development to the area.

According to Mr Afriyie, the constituency has been severely deprived of any meaningful development under the nearly eight-year rule of the Nana Akufo Addo-Bawumia administration.

Speaking to the media after filing his nomination at the Electoral Commission (EC) office, Mr Afriyie stated that a combination of his leadership qualities and Mahama’s vision would transform the constituency and put it back on the path to progress.

He said, “In Afadjato South, the current state of affairs is such that we need someone with an extraordinary track-record, someone who will not come to test drive with the position, we do not need any mate or or apprentice, we need an established, experience driver with a credible license and that is what I bring to the table, having work in the office of the President and with Hus Excellency John Dramani Mahama.”

According to him, no meaningful development has occurred in the area in the last 8-years a situation that has widened the youth unemployment gap and a further increase in hardship for the people particularly, women.

“Indeed, for the past 8-years, we have not benefited any meaningful development under the Akufo Addo-Bawumia administration and we cannot extend this misery, we must reset and put the constituency back on the path of progress by bringing what the youth need, what the women need,” he stressed.

The NDC candidate’s comments come as the country gears up for the 2024 general elections, with development and good governance expected to be key campaign issues.
