Prof Ransford Gyampo of the University of Ghana’s political science department is of the strong view that the NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will go down as the most undemocratic government in the fourth republic.
He cites attempts at infiltrating the ranks of the University Teachers Association and other labour unions as one of the reasons why this government is undemocratic.
Also, tagging him as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) just because he was seen in a video dancing to John Dramani Mahama’s campaign song.
He adds that the current government has weakened the Judiciary once an Independent arm of government.
His worry has also been the silencing of civil society which is supposed to put the government on its toes.
“This government will go down as the most undemocratic government in the history of Ghana 4th republic because they are weakening the legislature, they are weakening the judiciary, they have silenced civil society, they have silenced the voices of eminent people and they are silencing and diving the front of labour,” he said.
