Atik Mohammed has expressed disappointment in President Nana Addo over his response to the request by some traditional leaders at Ekumfi in the Central Region for development in their communities.

The traditional leaders, who paid a visit to the President at the Jubilee House to address their plight, were given an explanation on why the community lacks development.

The President told them he had intentionally abandoned them because the constituents refused to vote for his party, the New Patriotic Party, parliamentary candidate, Ato Cudjoe.

Francis Ato Cudjoe was defeated by Abeiku Crentsil in the 2020 elections and according to the President, not providing development at Ekumfi was his payback.

“Ato Cudjoe was your MP and I made him a Deputy Minister and you voted him out in the last elections and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area, I have to be honest with you but since you have brought it up I will pay attention to it”, he said.

Following the comments by President, his Communicators have sought to explain he made the remarks in jest but Atik Mohammed is least enthused about this justification.

To Atik, the President needed not to have said such things about the Ekumfi residents, stressing he wasn’t elected to be President for the New Patriotic Party but rather to be a father for all.

“We didn’t vote for you to become the President of NPP. When he’s being described, he is described as the President of Ghana. Ekumfi is part of it; Republic of Ghana is not Accra only”, he fumed.

“To make the comment that the President made, I think it was in terrible taste and any person who wants to rationalize the comment is not doing the President any good. We need to tell the truth”, he said on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.

Also replying the Communicators regarding their argument that the statement is a joke, he asked; “What is funny about what he (Nana Addo) said?
