Thousands of supporters of the NDC in the Ashanti Region turned up for the much publicised “Enough is Enough” demonstration in Kumasi to demand a forensic audit of the voters’ register ahead of the 2024 election.

Clad in red and carrying placards with various inscriptions, the supporters of the largest opposition party trekked from their regional party office at Amakom, to the regional office of the Electoral Commission (EC) amidst brass band music.

They sang party songs and danced to the loud sounds of music from public address systems mounted in the buckets of NDC branded pickups, as they traversed through the principal streets of the city to present their petition to the EC.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards were, “Say No To a Rigged Register”, “Jean Mensah, You are Grossly Incompetent”, “2025: Year of Justice for Ayawaso West Wuogon By- Election Victims”, “Bossman, Stop the Rigging, Let the People Decide”, “All We Demand is Transparency and Accountability, “We No Go Sit Down Make Them Cheat Us Every day”, among others.

The number of enthusiastic supporters kept swelling as they moved along under the supervision of the leadership of the party in the region.

Hundreds of security personnel were on hand for the dual role of providing security for the demonstrators and managing the flow of traffic.

Mr. Augustus Nana Kwasi, the Regional Chairman of NDC, prior to the demonstration cautioned against vandalism and any action that would infringe on the rights of other citizens during the protest.

“We appreciate your support and call on everyone to be peaceful and express your grievances in the right manner,” he implored them.

Some of the protestors who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the party had had enough of the EC’s deliberate attempt to rig the election in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

They believed their request for a forensic audit of the register was the only way to determine the credibility of both the register and the EC.

“We are not asking them to do us any favour, all we demanding is for the register to be subjected to scrutiny by all stakeholders after several errors were detected following

the exhibition of the register,” Kwame Boafo, an NDC member from Oforikrom Constituency, told the GNA.
