The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Aseidu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, has urged the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to publicly declare his commitment to a peaceful handover of power to the winner of the December 7, 2024 presidential election.

Speaking at the NDC 2024 election campaign launch in Tamale on Saturday, the NDC National Chairman issued the direct challenge to President Akufo-Addo.

General Mosquito expressed concerns about the President’s previous statements, which he believes were mere political rhetoric.

He cited instances where President Akufo-Addo had mentioned handing over power to a candidate from his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC Chairman emphasised that such statements undermine the democratic process and raise questions about the President’s willingness to respect the election outcome.
