A Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament has criticised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for failing to highlight anything substantial on education at the launch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) manifesto.
Dr. Apaak, who is the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, said he was early waiting to hear something significant on education, but he felt disappointed because the Vice President failed to do so.
According to Dr. Apaak, besides the free tertiary education policy he announced, which he stated was plagiarised from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2020 manifesto and repeated in the youth manifesto, Dr. Bawumia did not state anything significant on education.
The former lecturer said the candidate also failed to highlight anything to deal with the numerous challenges confronting basic education in the country.
He asserted that the education sector is troubled, and it was obvious that the ruling government and its candidates have nothing at hand in resolving these challenges.
Below is the statement from the MP
As expected, I was eagerly awaiting to hear what DMB had to propose in the education sector. Boy, oh boy, and to my disappointment, nothing significant. Besides the proposal to fund the tertiary education of Persons with Disabilities, which DMB plagiarised from us; captured in our 2024 youth manifesto [certainly in our main manifesto] and a carry over from our 2020 Manifesto, DMB and his NPP have proposed nothing to deal with the mosaic of challenges affecting the education sector. In fact, absolutely nothing on BASIC EDUCATION. Our side will issue a formal statement on this matter. The education sector is troubled, and it’s clear that DMB and NPP have no solutions to the challenges.
