As Ghana prepares for the December 7, 2024, general elections, several Chiefs and Queen Mothers in the Assin South Constituency of the Central Region have publicly declared their support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The endorsements were made during a community durbar at Assin Engresi on Tuesday, attended by the NDC’s running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, as part of her three-day campaign tour of the Central Region.

Among the endorsing chiefs were the Chief of Assin Darmang and the Nkrontihene of Assin Engresi.

Nana Kwabena Waadie, the Nkrontihene of Assin Engresi, praised the NDC for their past contributions to the community, including the provision of a hospital, market, and other social amenities.

He expressed hope that the NDC would win the 2024 general elections to continue their development efforts.

“For his part, the Chief of Assin Darmang, Okofo Kwadwo Benti, commended Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her qualities as a mother and scholar, stating that she would provide essential support to Mr. John Dramani Mahama.

He declared his strong support for her, noting that women are effective managers of the home and it was a wise decision for the NDC flagbearer to choose her as his running mate.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang thanked the Chiefs and Queen Mothers for their support, assuring them that the NDC would continue to prioritize the development of the area.

She emphasized that the incoming NDC administration would focus on job creation through initiatives like the 24-hour economy and the National Apprenticeship Programme, as well as significant infrastructural development under the Big Push initiative.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged the electorate to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama to help make Ghana a better place for all.
