The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has chastised the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo over some praises showered on President Akufo-Addo.

This follows an assertion by the Chief Justice that the President is a living example of the rule of law.

While eulogizing the first gentleman of the land as the “most distinguished legal practitioner” in the history of Ghana’s legal trajectory, Madam Torkonoo noted that the President’s belief in the rule of law has been evident for all to see.

Speaking at the 2024 Africa Conference of the International Association of Women Judges, she said “His Excellency is a lawyer and champion of justice and his name is definably etched in the legal history of this country as the most distinguished legal practitioner.”

According to her, “His belief in the rule of law has been evident during his tenure as president and the judicial service of Ghana has been a beneficiary of the exceptional level of physical and technological infrastructure during this period.”

But reacting to this, Mr. Gyamfi described the statement as “comic relief.”

President @NAkufoAddo himself will disagree with this contrived testimony coming from the CJ. Sycophantic comments like this should ordinarily be reserved for party footsoldiers. Comic relief I guess.

He was of the opinion that the President will disagree with the praises being showered on him by the Chief Justice based on his personal assessment of his performance while in power.

“Sycophantic comments like this should ordinarily be reserved for party foot soldiers.

“Living example of what? Apuuu!!!” he stressed.
