Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has underscored the need for Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame to be investigated for alleged professional misconduct.
His call follows allegations made by a third accused person in the ambulance purchase trial in open court on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
The third accused person, Mr. Jakpa, had under cross-examination alleged that the Attorney General approached him to help him implicate Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the matter.
This was after the Attorney General accused him in court of making claims to protect the former deputy finance minister.
Dr. Apaak, reacting to this, called for an investigation to be conducted into the conduct of the minister.
He said these allegations are not only serious but despicable and must come with severe sanctions.
In a tweet on X, formerly Twitter, the lawmaker recounted what the third accused person said and stressed that the minister should not get away with what has happened.
His tweet read: Here is what the 3rd accused had to say: “The A-G has on several occasions engaged me at odd hours to help him make a case against A1 and I have evidence for that.. If he pushes me, I will open the Pandora’s box. I don’t understand why the A-G will accuse me of defending A1 when I’m here to defend myself,” Mr Jakpa said in court. “If he pushes me, I’ll open the Pandora’s box. I have evidence to all this,” he added.
The A-G must not get away with trying to influence Mr. Jakpa to skew his testimony in a manner that would incriminate Hon. Ato Forson. The conduct of the A-G, as revealed in court by the 3rd accused under cross-examination today, is not just condemnable but must attract serious sanctions.”
