NDC Member of Parliament for the Buem constituency has suggested that the Electoral Commission should do a re-ballot of the presidential balloting if any of the presidential candidates decides to pull out the contest before the notice of poll.

According to him, though there is no law that stipulates what the Electoral Commission should do that should someone decides to pull out of the presidential race, he believes that a fresh balloting will help and allow the candidates to educate their followers as to their new positions on the ballot paper.

Speaking on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ programme, he explained in the eventuality of a presidential candidate pulling out of the race, and the with the exception of the number one candidate on the ballot paper, all other candidate will be forced to shift from their earlier positions.

“If proper care is not taken the general public will be left confused and it will adversely contribute to the issue of spoilt ballot which we are trying to prevent.

“But I believe that if the Electoral Commission agrees to fresh ballot, it will allow Ghanaians to know correctly the positions of the various presidential candidates they wish vote for,” he said.
