Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamenatry candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dumelo, has appealed to former President John Dramani Mahama, to do all it takes to revive the collapsed banks to create employment opportunities for the unemployed youth in the country, particularly those in the constituency.

Mr. Dumelo, who is a farmer, entrepreneur, and actor said Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, has become the economic hub of Accra, hence the need for them to take security seriously.

He lamented that unemployment was a major concern that must be addressed to help give opportunities to the youth.

He claimed to have seen maize and okro growing on the compound as he travelled through Dworwulu, the location of one of the banks that was collapsed.

“That is not what we want. We will plead with you to bring back the licenses of these banks so the employment would be given back to the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon and Ghana. There are so many state institutions in Ayawaso West Wuogon: Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Standard Board—so many of them. Employment should be given to the people of Agawaso West Wuogon because we are the custodians of the land.”

He also promised to ensure that the constituency becomes the cleanest because it has now become dirty.

He was speaking at an engagement organised in the constituency when former President John Dramani Mahama visited the constituency.

Mr. Mahama reiterated that a new NDC government will establish the Women’s Bank to give credit to women, particularly those in small and medium-scale enterprises.

Women are an important part of our economic prosperity as a country, driving progress in the various sectors of our economy, he said.

The presidential candidate posited that if women are given the needed financial support, it will improve the welfare of our children, our husbands, and others.
