The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has urged voters in the Upper West region to resist the temptation of voting for smaller parties or independent candidates in the December elections.
He said that voters dissatisfied with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) should instead cast their ballots for the NDC.
Speaking at a rally at Nabullo in the Sissala East constituency of the Upper West Region, a former strong hold of the People’s National Congress (PNC) on Sunday, Mr Mahama said he disagrees with Bernard Mornah, the flag bearer of the PNC’s disqualification as a presidential candidate.
“I know that Bernard Mornah is more qualified than most of the people on the ballot so don’t waste your votes on those small small parties,” Mr Mahama said.
The former President’s appeal, he said emphasises the importance of strategic voting, especially in a highly contested election.
He wants to consolidate opposition votes under the NDC banner, increasing the party’s chances of unseating the governing party.
