A prominent member of the National Communications Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye has voiced strong concerns regarding the Electoral Commission (EC) and its treatment of the NDC within the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC).

Yeboah-Korankye alleges that the EC, under the auspices of IPAC, has consistently disregarded the opinions and worries expressed by the NDC, attributing this attitude to a perceived agenda by the NDC to undermine the EC’s responsibilities.

Speaking to Nana Yaa Brefo and Isaac Ekow JB on Yen Nsempa, Onua FM, Yeboah-Korankye vehemently denied these allegations, emphasizing that the NDC’s sole interest lies in ensuring free and fair elections within the country.

“The NDC are stakeholders in the election, so whatever happens before, during, and after the elections is a matter of importance to us,” he stated.

“When we attend IPAC meetings and share our views and worries, it is strongly disregarded by the EC. The EC feels the NDC has taken a stand to sabotage their agenda, which is not the case. We are simply interested in ensuring that elections are conducted fairly and accurately.”

The lawyer further expressed concern over what he perceives as partisan appointments by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP within key institutions such as the Judiciary and the Electoral Commission.

Highlighting the implications of such appointments, Yeboah-Korankye pointed out the potential bias in legal proceedings which may come in very important as the 2024 general elections approach.

“You will go to a State Agency and realize the government in power has put into position people of his party colours belonging to his party. This is a stock-in-trade benchmark for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He is the only leader in history that I know who has appointed people with his political colours to occupy positions they shouldn’t in the Judicial Service,” he emphasized.

“As a lawyer, when I get a case and I realize that the Judge is an NPP person, by default, I know the verdict shall not go in my favour,” he stated.
