Member of Parliament for Madina Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu says he has distinguished himself as the representative of his people and that will make them vote massively for him in the 2024 parliamentary election.
The MP noted that just as expected, he has demonstrated immeasurable leadership and addressed the core issues of his constituents.
For this reason, he has expressed optimism that he will emerge as the MP after the results have been declared.
Lawyer Sosu speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said “by the grace of God after my constituents voted for me in the last three years, I have done my best as a first time Member of Parliament to help my constituents.
As an elected MP, you have an obligation to represent your people and be vocal and have their concerns addressed. You should also be able to work and support the house to formulate laws that can help transform the lives of the people. I have personally led and initiated 17 laws in the House. The majority of these laws have been beneficial to the country. The death penalty is one such laws. I have also led and have a law passed to criminalize witchcraft accusation. When the issues are resolved, this law will help particularly women.”
He further explained that his proposal for the national health insurance scheme to consider the treatment of cancer and child tumours would go a long way to help families primarily, those in his constitiency.
The other issue he addressed was the need for government to prioritise mental health and add its treatment to the health insurance saying such a move will also be good especially when the mental health hospital is in his constituency.
“When you also look at the law, I proposed to have the tax on sanitary pads removed, which has made the government announce that the removal of taxes on locally manufactured pads is also a good initiative. I am also working to see to it that the tax on foreign ones is removed.
So I have done my best, executed my role as the MP, and achieved a lot. When you come to the constituency, other types of social development have been embarked on. The job centre I introduced has impacted more than the lives of seven thousand people in the constituency. Several of the young people who have learned a skill will be graduating this year. We are still training people in soap-making and entrepreneurship.
The teacher motivation awards scheme, in which the overall best teacher is given a car, will be organised this year, and the overall best teacher will get a car. There are a lot of activities and initiatives I am embarking on. I will not be able to put them out here, but I am on a mission to make Madina great, he concluded.
