The Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has sharply criticised the Electoral Commission (EC) as the country approaches the general election.

He claims the EC has not adequately prepared for the upcoming polls.

Dr Omane Boamah’s criticism focused on what he perceives as deficiencies in the EC’s IT and statistics departments.

He argued that these weaknesses could undermine the integrity and efficiency of the electoral process.

The former Communications Minister highlighted recent typographical errors in the EC’s data from the last limited voter registration exercise as evidence of the Commission’s shortcomings.

He expressed serious concern that such issues could impact the accuracy of election results.

In a Facebook post on Monday, July 29, Dr Omane Boamah called on the EC to address these problems urgently.

He stressed the need for immediate action to rectify the identified issues before the general election.

“I submit to you that the IT and Statistics outfits of the Electoral Commission of Ghana remain the weakest links going into the 2024 elections.”

“Think about the numerous EC’s incorrect figures that the National Elections and IT Directorate of the NDC has corrected over the past few months,” he said.
