Director of IT and Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has opined on the depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi against major foreign currencies such as the US dollar.

The Cedi is currently trading at over GHS13 against the dollar and inching closer to GHS17 against the British Pound Sterling.

In a post via Facebook on Monday, April 1, the NDC elections director told Ghanaians not to be fooled by the failed economist—NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Instead, Dr. Omane Boamah told Ghanaians to vote for the NDC’s flagbearer John Dramani Mahama so they could be offered well-paying jobs through the 24-hour economy policy.

“1st April…! Don’t be ‘fooled’ by the US$1 = Ghc14 Failed Economist. Vote John Mahama for well-paying jobs #24houreconomy,” he wrote.

The 2024 elections is scheduled for December 7. It will be the ninth election since the inception of the country’s Fourth Republic in 1992.

Political analysts believe that the two major political parties, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama are leading the fight for the seat.
