As the Women’s Organiser for the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter, I stand on behalf of the Council of Elders of the Women’s wing, the branch women organisers and entire women of the UK and Ireland Chapter to express our heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering commitment to the promotion of the gender equality and inclusivity within our beloved party.

First and foremost, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to His Excellency John Mahama for his remarkable decision in naming Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang as his running mate for the upcoming 2024 general elections. This monumental step not only signifies a significant milestone in our party’s history but also serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for women across the nation and the diasporas. Your steadfast dedication to empowering women within the political landscape is truly commendable, and it fills us with immense pride to be members of a party that values and uplifts the voices of women.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang’s nomination as the running mate exemplifies the NDC’s unwavering commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment. By entrusting such a crucial role to a highly accomplished and distinguished woman, we are sending a powerful message to the world that women belong at the forefront of leadership and decision-making processes. We are confident that with her exemplary leadership and vision, she will help steer our party towards greater heights of success and progress.

Furthermore, we would like to highlight some of the significant contributions made by the NDC in advancing the cause of women’s rights and representation in Ghanaian politics. It is worth mentioning that the first female Attorney General of Ghana, the honourable Betty Mould-Iddrisu, hails from the ranks of the NDC. Her trailblazing achievements have paved the way for countless women to pursue careers in law and public service.

Moreover, the NDC’s appointment of the first-ever female Electoral Commissioner and the historic moment when the first female Speaker of Parliament assumed office during NDC’s tenure in 2009 under the late President Mills, serve as testament to our party’s commitment to breaking barriers and creating opportunities for women to excel in their respective fields.

As the Women’s Organiser for the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to promoting the rights and interests of women within our party and beyond. I urge all young girls and women to join the NDC, where they will find a supportive and inclusive environment that nurtures their talents and enables them to thrive.

In conclusion, we would like to reaffirm my unwavering support and solidarity with our esteemed running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, and express my deepest gratitude to His Excellency John Mahama and the entire party leadership for their relentless efforts in championing the cause of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Together, let us continue to strive for a future where every woman has the opportunity to fulfilling her potential and contribute meaningfully to the progress and prosperity of our nation.
