Joseph Konney Junior, the Deputy Communication Officer of the opposition NDC in the Ablekuma West constituency, criticized the Nana Addo-led NPP government for its incompetence in handling the economy, attributing the recent fuel hikes to this mismanagement.

Joseph Konney Junior highlighted on Property Daybreak with Anigye Hene Abeiku Yamoah that the energy sector recovery levy, introduced by the NDC under John Mahama, was crucial for the development of the energy sector. He criticized the current administration for mismanaging this fund to the extent of using it as collateral for 15 years, which he argued has severely hampered the sector’s potential for improvement.

He pointed out the drastic increase in the cedi to dollar ratio from 4.2 to 15.7 since the NPP took power and highlighted the negative impact of the government’s policies on the economy, including the mismanagement of the energy sector recovery levy introduced by John Mahama’s administration.

Konney emphasized that the levy, if properly managed, could have significantly improved the energy sector.

He urged Ghanaians to vote wisely in the upcoming elections on December 7, calling for the ousting of the current government.
