The Minority in Parliament has slammed the government for its failure to release funds for students on government of Ghana scholarships and studying in the UK.
The situation in the caucus has led to some of these students having their admissions revoked by their universities.
A Deputy Ranking Member of the Education Committee of Parliament, Dr. Clement Apaak, in a statement, described the incident as embarrassing and a disgrace to the country.
The Builsa South has therefore asked the government to immediately take steps in correcting the wrong done to the students and to the image of Ghana.
He added that some of the affected students have been given the options, including leaving the UK to face sanctions such as prosecution by UK authorities.
The statement read ”Some Ghanaian students in the UK on GOG Scholarships have been sacked because the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has failed to pay their fees.
In fact, this is a disgrace to our nation. The Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government must take immediate steps to correct this wrong done to the students and to the imagine of Ghana.
Some affected students have been given options, including leaving the UK or facing further sanctions, including detainment and prosecution by the UK authorities.
